WHY VISIT CHINA?
If we were asked to describe China in a single word it would be ‘epic’.
One of the first things that strikes you when exploring this stunning and endlessly fascinating country is that everything seems to operate on a different sense of scale to anywhere else in the world. It is perhaps unsurprising to find that in the country with the world’s largest population, that scale is set to ‘massive’.
What is perhaps surprising for some, is that despite its huge population, megacities and issues around pollution, China is also a country of stunning natural beauty where in the summer you will find a landscape ablaze with colour and in the winter you can explore great expanses reaching to the horizon and occupied by not another soul.
It is a place with fantastic facilities for travellers, a complex patchwork of histories and cultures, amazing food and a never-ending list of novel things to see and do.
Whether it's visiting the country’s oldest teahouse, where old men clutch hot tea and gossip beneath murals of an incongruously benevolent-looking Mao or braving the crowds to visit the pandas in Chengdu, China is a place that offers the visitor that rarest of experiences, the chance to see something new every day. Whilst some aspects of travel in China and even getting a visa in the first place can be challenging, in every case, the rewards are more than worth the effort.
